Who Are We? deutsch

“D’Insle Privater Ganztages-Kindergarten – based on Montessori pedagogy” was founded by Verena Schüepp-Lanz as a sole proprietorship on Klosbachstrasse 68 in Zurich-Hottingen in March 1992 with twenty-five children of pre-school age.

No more than two and a half years later – in summer 1994 – the first extension was added On Balgriststrasse 102, near Wehrenbachtobel, a small basic elementary school was founded.

The constant growth of the school and the desire to unite the two levels led to relocation to our current school building at Signaustrasse 7 near Kreuzplatz. At the same time of the merger of the two establishments the sole proprietorship was changed into the family-share hold company “D’Insle Private Tagesschule AG”. In the meantime, Jürg Schüepp took over as administrative head of school and Verena Schüepp became the pedagogical head of school, freeing her to work exclusively with the children.

At the new location, the offer expanded to a pre-Kindergarten for 1-3 year olds, a Kindergarten for 3-6 year olds and also an elementary school from 1st to 6th class.
In 1994, the speciality of the house was introduced, the pre-school class. Children in the second year of Kindergarten are slowly introduced to the basic elementary level through the pre-school class, which is an integrated part of the 1st class programme. For over seven years this concept has been applied, enabling a flowing transition from Kindergarten to the basic elementary level.

In spring 2001, the upper elementary level (3rd to 6th class) relocated from Signaustrasse 7 to the cheerful, airy rooms at Asylstrasse 71 near Römerhof due to the pressure of continuous growth. This also enabled the basic elementary level (1st and 2nd class) and pre-school to flourish at Signaustrasse 7.

In 2001 D’Insle was able to successfully apply for official recognition as a Montessori school thanks to the ongoing training of Verena Schüepp-Lanz and consistent efforts to comply with the strict guidelines defined by AMS (Assoziation Montessori Schweiz) regarding the training of the teachers. This opened the gateway to changing the name of the school to “D’Insle Montessori Schule AG - Bilingual Day School”.
