The elementary school is split into
two age groups, the one for 6 to 9 year old, the other for
9 to 12 year old. The day starts with a half-hour drop-off
period between 7.30am and 8am. At 8am the morning block begins
with a group circle. The circle is followed by the free selection
of Montessori Materials. Each child works on his individually
tailored programme, according to his personal abilities and
needs. At all times there are two teachers present, one German
and one English speaking. To a great extent, the child works
independently. The childs work is frequently evaluated
and corrected together with the teacher. From the fourth class
onwards, work is graded, and whenever possible, presented
to the rest of the class.

At the basic elementary level, there is
a pre-school class (German: Vorschule, the transitional
class between Kindergarten and Elementary), the pace of which is
dictated by the individual development of each child. The Basic
Elementary level is the first three school years and is made up
of approximately thirty children of mixed age groups between 6 and
9. The children at this level participate in sports lessons, handcrafts
and also have the opportunity for optional swimming lessons.

The Upper Elementary level for 9
to 12 year old offers an individualized, flowing transition
between the upper elementary classes. The most important materials
close to transitional periods can be found on both levels.
Just as on earlier levels, the focus is on individual performance
using Montessori Materials. In the fifth and sixth class the
introduction and constant increase of lesson sequences, frontal
teaching and tests, ensure an unproblematic entrance into
secondary school.
