The elementary school is split into two age groups, the one for 6 to 9 year old, the other for 9 to 12 year old. The day starts with a half-hour drop-off period between 7.30am and 8am. At 8am the morning block begins with a group circle. The circle is followed by the free selection of Montessori Materials. Each child works on his individually tailored programme, according to his personal abilities and needs. At all times there are two teachers present, one German and one English speaking. To a great extent, the child works independently. The child’s work is frequently evaluated and corrected together with the teacher. From the fourth class onwards, work is graded, and whenever possible, presented to the rest of the class.
